[ For Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004  build 2365]

The route I'm building is based on a real route with track details from around the 1950/1960 period. The route forms part of the UK Paddington to Penzance main line and a small part of the Exeter to Waterloo line. Ive made it with as much detail as I can to try and show the real look of the area.

The part of the route that ive done starts just to the south of Newton Abbot and travels north via Teignmouth, Dawlish, Dawlish Warren, Starcross, Exminster St Thomas and Exeter St David's finishing at the north end of the station at Cowley bridge. Im also in the process of doing the line further north  via Stoke Canon, Silverton, Hele and Bradnich, Cullompton, Tiverton Junction, Sampford Peverell,Burlescombe, Wellington, Norton Fitzwarren and into Taunton Station. The other main line comes from Pinhoe in the east to Exeter St David's. This line will be extended to Axminster at a later date. The branch line from Exeter Central to Exmouth is included and also the old Teign Valley branch line that ran from Exeter St Thomas via Ide, Longdown, Christow, Ashton, Chudleigh and Heathfield. The line then  meets the Newton Abbot to Moretonhampstead branch.

Because this area is largely a holiday resort, in the summer pleasure boats give trips around the estuary and coast on a daily basis. So ive included in this route the chance to sail around it. It is possible to sail from Teignmmouth to Dawlish and onto Exmouth, Starcross and Topsham. The Exeter ship canal was at one time a busy route from Turf locks to Exeter canal basin. With thanks to Ian Manion (Vulcan) for creating the working locks etc this allows you to travel from the Exe estuary right up to Exeter.

Many industries have been used which are as close to the original type of industry that existed at that time. Teignmouth, Topsham and Exmouth all have docks with train operations. As well as the industries all the stations have been purpose built with passengers enabled.

If you are unable to vist this area I hope this will give you a reasonable view of what this part of Devon looks like.
